Festive Xmas illustration and card making workshop – Live online with a replay

Original price was: R125.Current price is: R75.

Instead of buying impersonal, expensive ones, learn how to create personalised gift tags, wrapping paper & cards in this Festive Xmas illustration and card-making workshop. All you need are a few basic supplies.

Most importantly, you’ll need some fruit mince pies and bubbly! Put on some festive tunes, get a few friends together or do it with your partner and kids and get creative. It’s fun, and it’s a useful skill to have. And I promise you anyone can do this. If you can draw your basic shapes-your circles, triangles and squares, you can do this! We’ll cover ideas from very basic to advanced if you’re up for the challenge. We’ll tackle the traditional Xmas themes as well as modern Southern Hemisphere fun festive ideas.

Sale ends 3 Dec. Don’t miss out.

The workshop will be live online and include a video replay.

All ages, all levels, everyone welcome.

What you’ll need for the workshop:

• Plain cheap paper, like copier paper

• A pencil, pen and eraser

The workshop will focus on the illustrations and designs, and I will show you how to use the art materials below to make your own cards, wrap, gift tags, and ornaments. You don’t need these supplies in time for the workshop; you can always get them at a later date, and you’ll have your replay to go over the techniques. I will also give further details about art supplies in the workshop. But to make your cards, etc, you will need the following:

• a ruler

• scissors or craft Knife

• a black pen

• a pencil and eraser

• a colour pen, koki, marker, pencil or crayon – you just need one or two other colours than black or water colours, gouche whichever medium you prefer

• a blunt knife – dinner knife or pate/butter knife can work well, or even the back of a spoon or fork

• mixed-media or watercolour paper – my suggestion is a pad of A5 paper between 200 and 350gr. Folded, it is A6, which is an easy-to-find envelope size. Any thickish paper will do as long as it’s matte, not glossy or shiny, and I recommend not too thick as that will be hard to fold neatly into a card.

• unprinted newspaper or any large sheets or rolls of plain paper. Again, this should be matte. And it needs to be thin enough to fold easily.

Nice to haves but not necessary:

• metallic or glitter pen – personally, I’m a big fan of gel pens, and you can get them for cheap at most stationary stores

• a hole punch

• A6 Envelopes for your cards

• plain matte gift bags to decorate – if you’re in the Cape Town area I suggest going to Merrypak – they have all the things! And it’s very affordable. (not sponsored! I personally shop there a lot)

If you can’t get everything together in time, great. But don’t stress about it. Use the lesson to hone your illustration and design skills, and do the making part afterward.

I’ll send out a recording of the workshop the next day, so if you can’t make it at that time, you can do it over the holidays when you have time. Or rewatch once you have all the supplies you want to use. It will be a video that’s yours to keep forever.

Important info:
